01What the free tier actually gets you

Most “free AI music generators” hand you a preview: a clipped excerpt, a watermarked file, or an instrumental with the vocals locked behind a plan. Octa’s free tier is the same pipeline paid users run:

  • A complete song — intro to outro, not a clip.
  • Real sung vocals in five languages — male, female or auto — or instrumental if you prefer.
  • Your lyrics or Octa’s — paste your own words and it performs them.
  • Mix, master and 4K cover art — the file that lands in your library is release-ready.

Free is the product, not a demo of it.

It works in the browser studio and the Android app with one shared account and library — generate on your laptop, listen on your phone.

02Where free ends

Honesty over fine print: the free tier covers your first song with no card, and up to 4 songs in total. After that, generating costs credits — from a subscription’s monthly track limit or from one-time track packs. One song, one cover or one extension each cost one credit.

Failed runs never cost you. If a generation fails on our side — engine error, timeout, or a blocked copyrighted cover — the credit returns to your balance automatically.

Everything else stays open without paying: your library, playlists, the community feed, and every song you already made.

03How to spend the free song well

One well-written line gets you a far better first song than a vague one. The five-part recipe from our prompt guide: genre, subject, one or two instruments, tempo, voice.

  • dark trap about a night drive, sliding 808s, icy bells, male vocal
  • acoustic ballad about a long goodbye, fingerpicked guitar, close female vocal
  • upbeat summer pop about a first night out, huge chorus

Avoid naming real artists — the content filter stops those runs. Describe the sound instead: “raspy male baritone, 90s grunge phrasing”.

04Free vs paid, plainly

  • Free — first song without a card; up to 4 songs total; full quality, full ownership under the app’s terms.
  • Plans — a monthly track limit (Basic, Standard and Premium tiers), covers, extensions, and MY VOICE cloning in the app. One plan unlocks web and Android together.
  • Track packs — one-time credit top-ups when you do not want a subscription.

The practical difference is volume, not quality — the engine is identical on every tier. Hear it on the fresh AI songs feed: every track there was made by a creator like you, many on free credits.

No. Sign in, type your idea, generate. Payment details only enter the picture if you later choose a plan or a track pack.

Yes — the license does not change based on whether the generating credit was free or paid. Songs from your own prompts and lyrics are yours to use under the app’s terms.

The same output paid users get: a full track with sung vocals, mixing, mastering and 4K cover art — not a watermarked preview or a 30-second clip.

The studio stays open — your library, playlists and community feed keep working. To generate more, pick a plan (Basic starts small) or grab a track pack; if a generation ever fails on our side, the credit is refunded automatically.

No audio watermarks on the music you keep, and no ads inside the studio. The free tier exists so you can judge the engine on a real, finished song.
