Octa · Lyrics to song

Lyrics to song: your words, sung as written.

You wrote the words. The hard part was always the rest: a melody that fits them, a voice that can carry them, a mix that does not sound like a demo. Paste your lyrics below and the checker will show you which lines a singer will trip on. Fix those, and Octa sings the whole thing in about a minute.

The syllable count is an estimate. It is tuned for English and works reasonably for other languages written in Latin letters. For Japanese and Korean it counts characters instead. Lyrics can be written in many languages; how well they are sung varies by language, so listen to the first take.

    02What the checker looks at

    • Syllables per line. A melody has a fixed number of notes in a bar. A line with 9 syllables next to a line with 17 forces the singer to rush one of them. Even lines sit on a tune; uneven ones fight it.
    • Long lines. Past 14 syllables, a line is hard to sing in one breath at most tempos. Split it in two.
    • Section tags. [Verse], [Chorus] and [Bridge] on their own lines tell the engine where the hook is and where the song should lift. Without them it has to guess.
    • A chorus that repeats. A chorus sung once is just another verse. The checker tells you if yours appears only once.
    • Length. The median finished song on Octa has 221 words of lyrics, measured across 4,628 songs in our 2026 data study. Far below that and the song will feel short. Far above and something has to be cut.

None of this judges whether the lyrics are good. It only tells you whether they can be sung.

03From checked lyrics to a finished song

    1. Open Octa in the Android app or the web studio and paste your lyrics instead of a description.
    2. Describe the sound in one line. Genre, mood, tempo and the kind of voice: “slow acoustic ballad, warm female vocal, fingerpicked guitar”. If you are not sure how to phrase it, build the line with the prompt generator.
    3. Press create. About a minute later you have a full track: your words sung, the arrangement, the mix, the master and cover art.

If a line comes out rushed, it is usually one of the lines the checker flagged. Shorten it and run the song again.

What it costs. Creating the song needs a plan or a song pack: $2.99 covers 15 songs, enough for the song and several retakes. The full list is on the pricing page.

    04Eight habits of singable lyrics

    1. One sung line per line. Where you press Enter is where the singer breathes.
    2. Keep most lines between 6 and 12 syllables. Short enough to breathe, long enough to say something.
    3. Match the lines that share a melody. Line one of verse two should be about as long as line one of verse one.
    4. Put the title in the chorus. First or last line. People remember what they hear most.
    5. Paste the chorus again, word for word, each time it returns. Small changes between choruses sound like mistakes.
    6. End long notes on open vowels. “Away”, “home”, “tonight” hold well. “Strength” and “asked” do not.
    7. Spell unusual names the way they sound. “Siobhan” will be sung as written. “Shiv-awn” will be sung right.
    8. Write numbers and symbols as words. “Twenty-five” and “and”, not “25” and “&”.

05What is free, what is not

Free: this checker, as often as you like, with no account. In the app, the lyric assistant gives you 2 suggestions a day without a plan. Listening to what other people made, on the song pages and in the reels feed, is free too.

Not free: having your lyrics sung. Each finished track comes from a plan or a pack, starting at $2.99 for 15 songs. If a generation fails on our side, it goes back on your balance automatically.
