[A Cappella Intro]
(Is this the shadow, or just the light?)
Lost in the silent halls, fading from sight
Open your mind, look to the stars and see
I'm just a traveller, chasing a memory
Because the tide will rise, the tide will fall
A little whisper, a distant call
Any way the river flows doesn't matter to me
To me...
[Piano Ballad]
Father, I walked the wire tonight
Traded my golden crown for a glimpse of morning light
Father, my time had just begun
And now I've turned the page and cast it all away
Father, ooh, never meant to break the dawn
If I am lost before the morning sun
Carry on, carry on, as if the story's just begun...
[Guitar Solo - Soaring & Melodic]
[Operatic Section]
I see a phantom in a velvet coat
Cassiopeia, Cassiopeia, will you steer the wooden boat?
Thunderbolts of mercury, blinding every eye!
(Orion!) Orion!
(Orion!) Orion!
Orion hold the key, set us free!
I'm just a wanderer, nobody knows my name
(He's just a wanderer in a endless game!)
(Save him a space from this stormy rain!)
High and low, ebb and flow, will you set me free?
In the dark! No, we will not set you free! (Set him free!)
In the dark! We will not set you free! (Set him free!)
In the dark! We will not set you free! (Will not set you free!)
Never, never set you free!
Ah, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
[Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Riff]
So you think you can chain me and lock up my mind?
So you think you can leave all my promise behind?
Oh, darling, can't break me like this, darling!
Just gotta break out, gotta run right into the night!
[Heavy Guitar Solo - Fast & Driving]
[Outro - Slow Piano Ballad]
Nothing stays forever,
Anyone can see.
Nothing stays forever...
Nothing stays forever to me.
Any way the river flows...

About this track

How this rock song was made.

“Is This the Shadow” is an AI-generated Rock song with vocals, 5:59 long. It was created in Octa from one short text description: the lyrics, melody, vocal performance, arrangement and mix were all generated from that idea, then published by @Randy Packard to the Octa community in October 2026.

Guitars are stacked left and right, the drums feel played rather than programmed, and the energy builds from verse to chorus the way a live band pushes it. The lyrics on this page are the exact words the AI wrote and sang for this track.

The prompt behind it

“1970s progressive rock, operatic rock, theatrical piano ballad, multi-layered choral harmonies, heavy guitar riff, dynam, 1970s progressive rock theatrical piano ballad with operatic vocals and heavy guitar riffs”
